Rotary Club of Littlehampton History
The Rotary Club of Littlehampton was chartered in 1923 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. We currently have a membership of 42. The Club and its members are an integral part of community life in Littlehampton and the surrounding villages in West Sussex, in the South East of England.
Like all Rotary Clubs, we provide help and assistance whenever we can to a variety of local, national and international good causes. Service Above Self is Rotary Internationals motto and we know our club members follow this in so many ways through the service that we give.
Rotary Clubs exist all over the world, fostering contacts, fellowship and understanding between different peoples and cultures. For our part we have established close links with two clubs,
Mortagne au Perche in Normandy, France, District 1640, and Uberlingen/Bodensee on the shores of Lake Constance in Germany, District 1930.
Each year we exchange visits with these clubs and these enjoyable get together's are an important part of the social and international life of our organisation.
The Rotary Club of Arundel is our 'daughter' club. We regularly meet with them and enjoy a variety of service, social and sporting events together as well as with other clubs in District 1250.
Most Rotary Clubs have the benefit of their associated Inner Wheel Club, whose members are drawn from the partners and relatives of Rotarians. We are fortunate in Littlehampton in having the support at many of our events of the Inner Wheel Club of Littlehampton, without whom we could not even contemplate some of the fund raising and social activities that make up the Rotary year.
We would be delighted if you were to browse the remaining pages of our Web site, which we hope you will enjoy. You can find more about the structure of our club, as well as our ongoing projects, who we are, where we meet and what we do. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments or suggestions about Rotary in Littlehampton or Rotary in general. |
